An AI demo can prove that a model responds to a prompt. A working business capability must also define where information comes from, what happens after a response and who is responsible when the result is uncertain.
01Begin with the decision or task#
Describe the work that should become easier. If the goal cannot be explained without naming a model, the process may not be clear enough yet.
02Map the information flow#
- Identify the approved input sources.
- Decide what data must not enter the system.
- Define the output format and its next destination.
- Keep an audit trail where the risk requires one.
03Design human review deliberately#
Human review is not a generic safety label. Specify which results require approval, what the reviewer needs to see and how corrections feed back into the process.
04Plan for failure states#
The workflow should handle missing context, unavailable services and low-confidence output without inventing certainty. A clear fallback is part of the user experience.
05Measure the workflow, not the novelty#
Review whether the complete process becomes clearer, more consistent or easier to operate. A useful system is one the responsible team can understand, monitor and improve after the first demonstration.
